I first discovered my love for macrame while living in the pretty little town of Port Carling, Ontario. Constantly surrounded by the most dreamy scenery of green tree lines and sparkling black lakes I felt very inspired to create. I was working as a server and living in staff accommodation. My little window space soon started to fill with plants and pot space was limited. Feeling creative I purchased some rope from the local hardware store and set up on the dock…A couple tangles and some scrap rope, I had made my first plant hanger. I started trying other knots and began to play around with weaving techniques and even natural dyes. This past summer I was very grateful to live in a cottage with a huge deck surrounded by trees where I would often set up shop and spend my afternoons creating. During the cool months I relocate to Brantford, Ontario. I spend many afternoons with my 86 year old nonna Rosa making macrame and other fibre art in my fathers childhood bedroom turned craft room. A side from constantly stuffing me to the brim with pasta and espresso..she sharpened up her pizza scissors ( you know, the ones every Nonna has) and started cutting strands for me, so I could work faster. “Two handsa good, but four…is better” -Nonna Rosa
